Get to know a little more about me

I have experienced many different job roles in my working life. Starting off in retail working for John Lewis I was a Section Manager in menswear and sports departments. Moving on from that I became assistant store manager in an Austin Reed store. I have been trained in the best customer service and know what people expect in terms of product and service when it comes to parting with their hard earned money.

After that I found myself in a more office based managerial role. This was in an engineering environment where I learned the ins and outs of how manufacturing works. It was here that I learned this was the type of thing I'd like to do as a career. From this I put myself through bookkeeping courses and became qualified. I learned Sage 50 Accounts inside out as a result.

As you can see I am now completing my AAT qualification which means I will be an accounting technician. Understanding accounts more at a root level makes for more accurate reporting and explanation of figures as needed. I am using these skills for my own bookkeeping business so my clients get the best value for their money.

  • The Sage 50 Accounts package is a fantastic but also big program to learn your way around and how to use. I am almost fully proficient in all its features as well as knowing how to install it onto multi-sized networks.

  • My qualification is going well. Halfway through level 3 and should be finished by August, then on to complete level 4. This score will update as I move my way through this qualification.

  • Debt can be frustrating, both owing and being owed. I have helped companies deal with credit control efficiently as well as managing their cash flow, paying creditors on time at the same time as keeping the tax man happy.

  • If you employ staff then you will process payroll. I understand the ins and outs of employing and maintaining staff wages and many more aspects of HR. I work with the Nestsystem to process staff pensions.
